As everyone working within the confines of our little Charity knows, life preservation seldom presents itself as black and white. In fact, there are many shades of grey in between when it comes to saving an animal or animals. Numerous situations are not covered by a textbook and rely entirely upon the knowledge and understanding of our Sanctuary’s staff and carers alike.
A quick glance at these photographs would lead anyone to believe that they were run-of-the-mill pictures of a proud “mum” with her kittens. A closer look, however, will reveal the wonders of nature and the animal world to which we are committed.
Yes, this “mum” isn’t just rearing her own kittens but a brood of orphaned rabbits which were brought into the sanctuary after their own mother was found dead. They were barely a week old and probably wouldn’t have survived artificial feeding even with the best care; so the ingenious idea to gradually blend each small bunny in with the newly born kittens was implemented. Shortly after this photograph was taken, the reared youngsters were able to fend for themselves and, of course, this is not just our Sanctuary’s success story but also one which all our supporters can jointly share because without help we could not perform these little miracles……….
